The mission of the Community Engagement Committee is to identify and lead the planning of events that bring together a diverse group of residents to celebrate and build community together.
Goals for this committee will be set by its members.
This committee will lead the planning and organizing of the annual W4J&E Juneteenth Celebration in partnership with the core team. Each year this event has grown. Going forward, W4J&E has designated this committee to continue organizing this popular tradition. There may be additional events planned by the committee as well.
As the President and Founder of Woodbury for Justice & Equality, Walter Dobgima welcomed guests and reflected on Juneteenth as a newly recognized national holiday.
This event is run by volunteers and partially funded with a grant from the Woodbury Foundation as well as individual contributions from group members. We appreciate your support.
In order pursue our mission to support tangible equity work in our community, we have created sub-committees to focus on engaging in targeted areas. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering your time to support this mission.
